In its second year, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach garnered an ensemble of 21 interior greats from across the US. We had the pleasure of attending opening weekend and the Kips Bay Palm Beach Preview Party. Opening night offered a first look at reimagined rooms every bit as colorful and spectacular as one might imagine. The 10,000 square foot Mediterranean-style home known as ‘Fountain House’ was transformed, and in many cases, with the addition of Samuel & Sons trimmings. See our Instagram Story recap of design details.

Kips Bay Palm Beach Opening Weekend

The opening gala was quite the spectacle, with exotic cars brought in to line the driveway, ice sculptures for bars, and passed caviar hors d’oeuvres. Attendees dressed to impress, and heightened the design of the rooms, with many outfits reflecting the quintessential color and floral design style of Palm Beach. Show Houses are a platform for unrivaled creativity and it was thrilling to witness Samuel & Sons trimmings at every turn.  The applications were unique, bold, and statement-making.

Highlights of Kips Bay Palm Beach included Rinfret Ltd.’s Grand Entry where a settee was adorned with a double layer skirt: Aquitaine Fine Bullion Fringe was applied to the base beneath a layer of Harbour Barrel Knot Fringe.

The Master Bedroom, designed by David Mitchell Brown, showcased an upholstered corner banquette accented with carefully placed black Le Jardin Silk Tufts, and layered with lush pillows finished with Cirque Jumbo Pom Pom Fringe. The same tufts were carried over to the scalloped bed skirt, as well as a valance designed to hang over the bed while the Laurel Beaded Border glistened on draperies.

Billy Ceglia stayed true to his sense of classic design, incorporating a bold shade of green, as well as a candy bar to keep his space fresh and fun. Off-white drapery panels were perfectly accentuated, using both sizes of Cambridge Braid in Spring Green.

A standout for creativity went to Mark P. Finlay Interiors. The fabric tented ceiling of their ‘Coral Cabana’ room was ornamented with Aurelia Crete and Orsay Silk Woven Crete, and an Aurelia Key Tassel punctuated each corner. Aurelia Double Tassel Tiebacks held the cabana curtains in place, and Mita Shell Fringe ran vertically down corners where the walls joined. The “oohs” and “ahhs” were audible as people transitioned through the room.

Designer Danielle Rollins deemed her bedroom the Sunset Tower Suite, appointing everything from the floor to ceiling in shades of sunset-inspired Coral, Primrose and Apricot alongside our tassels and fringe in Shell and Magnolia.

Designer David Phoenix framed picturesque Palm Beach views with understated neutrals and natural shades. Draperies are trimmed with our Strata Chevron Border.

The “preppy boho” sitting room by Lee Ann Thornton was wrapped in Lisa Fine fabrics with colorful details in shades of berry and turquoise. Natural Cotton Bullion Fringe and the Printemps Chevron Border  trimmed pillows and banquettes.

As a whole, the Show House felt fun and vibrant, and perfectly on trend with Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019. With over 1,000 people passing through on opening night, Kips Bay Palm Beach is sure to wrap up as a huge success.

Kips Bay Show House 2018

Warmer days and flowers in bloom signal more than springtime in Manhattan. May promises the much-anticipated unveiling of the annual Kips Bay Show House—a culmination and a celebration of interior design talent, imagination, creativity, color and innovation. This year did not disappoint, and as always, we took great pride in seeing Samuel & Sons trimmings on display inside one of the industry’s most prestigious showhouses.

Alex Papachristidis in Veranda Magazine

From the simplest cord spotted on an upholstered piece, to a show-stopping space with trim at every turn, each time we see our product in print we’re filled with great joy and gratitude. As this year comes to a close, we look back with thanks and look forward to the New Year with eagerness and optimism as our trimmings can be seen throughout the cover story in Veranda’s first issue of 2017.

Designed by Alex Papachristidis, the Kip Bay Decorator Show House dining room exudes elegance and offers many lessons in the importance of details, from expertly applied trim on furniture, pillows and lamp shades, to hand-painted seat backs. It has been our pleasure to support Alex’s vision and this worthy cause.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House

Each year the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House calls on the talents of top interior designers for the benefit of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The organization, which got its start in 1915, provides much-needed educational and developmental programs for children. By transforming a Manhattan residence into a showcase of design inspiration and the world’s finest interior furnishings, the Show House has raised over $21,000,000 over four decades.

It’s an honor each time we see Samuel & Sons trimmings used the Show House, and the range of styles and creative applications never fail to impress. This year, we were proud to be included in designs by Alex Papachristidis, Drake/Anderson, David Kleinberg, Phillip Thomas, Suzanne Kasler, Victoria Hagan and Les Ensembliers.
