The Fifth Avenue Hotel is New York City’s newest grand hotel, complete with elegant guest rooms, a world-class restaurant, and bar. The team behind the project commissioned designer Martin Brudnizki of MBDS to create a lavish escape from the busy streets of Manhattan.

 

Martin worked hand in hand with our team to ensure no detail was left unexamined. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a lavish lobby brimming with rich details.

 

An enchanting, botanical sofa is trimmed with the Margaux Bullion Fringe in Fôret, finished at the seams by a coordinating Cord.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On either side, two slipper chairs are skirted by the Orsay Silk Tassel Fringe in Cherry, Coral, and Gold, with a matching twisted Cord tracing the curves of the chair backs. The Annecy Brush Fringe in Indigo and Gold trims each throw pillow above.

Accent chairs opposite the sofa are finished with a contrasting Annecy Cord in Shades of Tan and Brown, and each lumbar pillow is finished with an Aurelia Tassel Fringe edge in Shell.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A plethora of pillows adorn each seat in contrasting patterns and hues. On the sofa, a pop of punchy yellow is framed by the Orsay Silk Tassel Fringe in Gold, Rose, Iris, and Sky, accompanied by patterns on either side, framed with the Annecy Brush Fringe in Coral and Annecy Cord in Salmon, Peach, and Light Blue,

 

In the background, double height draperies are finished with layers of Kensington Braid in Petal and Chevallerie Tassel Fringe in Petale on each leading edge, held back by a tied Orsay Silk Diamond Braid in Gold, Rose, Iris, and Sky. The bottom edge of the ruched shade is skirted by the Délicat Silk Cut Fringe in Cream.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The conceirge desk boasts two accent chairs. The first is trimmed at the seams by the Céline Ombré Cord in Geyser while the Cambridge Strie Braid in Sterling outlines its skirt. The chair across has a contrasting Palais Cord in Claret with a coordinating Tassel Fringe on its seat.

 

 

 

 

Through the lobby, two slipper chairs are skirted with Rouen Tassel Fringe in Magnolia. Chinoiserie lumbar pillows are complemented by an Orsay Silk Tassel Fringe edge in Spring Greens and Gold.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each elevator vestibule's tented ceiling is dripping with layers of Silk Tassel Fringe, Ribbed Borders, Diamond Braids, and Cords in Gold, Rose, Iris, and Sky from the Orsay Collection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Portrait Bar is an iconic stop for cocktails and parlor bites. This sophisticated retreat is expertly trimmed with the firm’s signature old-meets-new aesthetic, with bespoke details in every curated corner.

A pleated lampshade is swathed in tassels from the Trianon Collection. From top to bottom, the Cord, Scalloped Tassel Fringe, and Key Tassel in Lapis reflect the room's golden hues and inviting blues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In some cases, Martin looked beyond what's in-stock, turning to our Custom Program to create something one-of-a-kind. Patterned boudoir chairs are skirted with a bespoke braided cord, crete, and sleek bullion fringe, layered in one chic, monochromatic finish.

Above the bar sits another lavish jewel box — the guest lounge. The Orsay Ribbed Border in Melange frames the striped wall upholstery, continuing across the ceiling in two rows. 

 

 

 

 

Throughout the hotel, pleated peacock sconces are outlined by the Palais Gimp in Terra.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From there, a sun-drenched conservatory is the perfect spot to sit with a morning coffee, surrounded by beautiful details. The Aurelia Tassel Fringe in Aquamarine, draped across the back of each bistro chair, is paired with the Winton Cord in Lake.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Café Carmellini, the hotel’s restaurant, is not without its own charm. Looking down from a balcony tête-à-tête, the Orsay Silk Tassel Fringe in Blue Melange and a Semi Custom Kensington Braid drape across the bottom edge of two impressive window shades. Coordinating Orsay Silk Cord outlines the resturant's banquettes, while the Aurelia Gimp in Aquamarine trims the edges of each table's lampshade.

 

The attention to detail doesn't stop at the door to the guest rooms. Inside, each chair, pillow, and headboard is meticulously curated.

The Venise Brush Fringe in Red and Gold skirts two slipper chairs with coordinating Annecy Cord details. The Red and Gold cord accent continues around the pleated shade of a floor lamp. Lumbar pillows above are framed with a lustrous halo of Chevallerie Brush Fringe in Oro. Each patterned drape is finished with an Aurelia Ombré Border in Surf, which echos the room's range of turqoiuse hues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No matter the room, no lampshade is left without it's own bespoke detailing, from Julienne Metallic Double Welting in Gold Leaf to the Aurelia Gimp or Beaded Fringe in a rich Sienna.

 

Even the smallest details are thoughtfully curated. Each upholstered headboard is completed with a cord, from chic, in-stock selections to something entirely Custom. 

 

The Fifth Avenue Suite welcomes guests with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows that frame breathtaking views of its namesake avenue. Every detail sparks joy, from the Custom crete with clusters of sunshine yellow tassels to an equally cheery, bespoke interpretation of the Aurelia Tassel Fringe.

 

At the end of the teal and ocher hallway, a glimpse through the bedroom door reveals a showstopping skirt fringe. A reimagined take on the Rouen Tassel Fringe, this statement-making detail is a testament to the hotel’s dedication to decorative details.
