Maru (Japanese for “circle” or “round”) is one of Keiro’s more formal patterns and named as such because it represents ceremonial obi design. Embroidered with a finer denier thread, the Maru border is a graceful double ogee pattern whose origin lies in neoclassical architectural ornamentation.
