This year’s Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse in Dallas unfolded in a series of richly imagined interiors, each imbued with unique character and creativity. Tour five standout spaces from designers who flawlessly demonstrated why the details make all the difference.
The Ilana Single Tassel Tieback in Night Sky pulls back double-sided drapery to reveal the Listening Room by Avery Cox Design. Along each drapery edge, the vibrant French Grosgrain Piping in Carib is layered with the lustrous Aria Silk Brush Fringe in Oro, complementing the teal and chartreuse scheme. At the center of the room, a generous ottoman is accented with Leather Piping in Nugget, tailoring each seam with a luxurious finish.
Welcome to Mr. Trotter’s Drawing Room, a modern interpretation of the Gilded Age salon by Eckström Studio. On either side of a sea of inviting seating, two chocolate brown banquettes frame the space with thoughtful symmetry.
The first is skirted with the Bali Cotton Jumbo Bullion Fringe in Cream, a relaxed take on a traditional finish. Above, contrasting cushions feature two widths of French Grosgrain Ribbon banding in Pearl, completed at each corner by a coordinating Bali Cotton Tuft.
Amidst the sophisticated neutrals, the Sabine Key Tassel in vibrant Peony pops, punctuating a classic cabinet.
Coral accents continue across a cerulean armchair, where the Sophie Cord in Rosewater traces its sculptural silhouette. The same Cord reappears on two patterned lumbar pillows, bringing subtle cohesion throughout the room.
A more minimal corner seat is defined by the Bali Cotton Cord with matching Tufts along the backrest. Completing the composition, dining chairs with cerulean seats are tailored with Cambridge Strie Braid in Peony, a detail echoed on petite pleated lampshades that cast a warm glow.
Raise a glass inside Nicole Zarr’s martini bar. An inviting banquette is wrapped with Trianon Blocked Brush Fringe in Chocolat, paired with a coordinating Cord that traces its sculptural geometry. Patterned throw pillows sit above, framed with Kensington Onion Tassel Fringe in Orchid and Orsay Silk Tassel Fringe in Gold, Rose, Iris, and Sky.
Mirroring the banquette's scheme, a daffodil-yellow cornice is traced with Trianon Cord in Chocolat in a bold 1/2" scale, paired with a coordinating Crete that adorns the draperies below. The yellow continues across the ceiling, where Paloma Velvet Border in Jonquil spans corner to corner, framed by the dimensional Dolce Marabout in Banana Split.
The Elementi Tiered Fringe in Carciofo by Maddux Creative circles two color blocked barstools, echoing the room’s dusty rose and warm leaf tones in its ombré layers. Gracing a small seat for someone else, Sophie Beaded Fringe in Walnut adorns the canopy of a tented dog bed. A patterned Spanish chair beside it is finished with Aurelia Cord in Loden, a final touch of green.

The debut of “Made to Measure,” a Bill Blass–inspired foyer by SEES Design. Among the central lavish seating, an upholstered bench showcases classic details from the Le Jardin Collection in color Cork. Silk Cord tailors cushion seams, while Tufts paired with Key Tassels adorn the ends of each bolster pillow. Underscoring the ensemble, Gimp bridges between the striped upholstery and the warm wood frame.
A thin cornice crowns the wooden doorway, accented by the MDS Embroidered Rosette Border and Rosette Gimp in Chocolate by Mark D. Sikes, layered with French Grosgrain Ribbon in Java. Below, a cascading pelmet continues the sepia scheme, finished with French Grosgrain Piping in Java and Inca Brush Fringe in Agave, soft layers that complete this inviting entry.
Layered within Sarah Stacey's whimsical sitting room, the Édelie Linen Tassel Skirt Fringe in Indigo grounds a cinnamon-brown sofa with a rich, anchoring contrast, building on the depth of the surrounding aubergine walls.
Greeting guests at the entrance to Katharine Pooley's study, the a warm ocher sofa is finished with the Julienne Piping in Imperial. Floor lamps on either side are tied into the room's deep blues with the Julienne 2-Tone Double Welting in Ciel on each shade.
Framing navy throw pillows, the Taos Embroidered Border in Horizon captures hues from the room's sophisticated complimentary palette, a final harmonizing touch.
Restrained drama meets timeless decadence in Ellerslie Interiors' Moonlight Pavilion. Oberon Double Tassel Tiebacks in White Gold glisten against olive green drapery, echoing the dining table's cream tones with a metallic finish.
The moody sitting area's lavish loveseat and footstool are skirted by the Willow Chainette Fringe in Praline by Lori Weitzner.
On the terrace, Lisa & Leroy unveiled “The Shape of Things,” a layered celebration of conversation and connection. Shading the outdoor lounge, geometric umbrellas edged with Aspen Brush Fringe in Adobe echo the building’s architectural lines.
The fringe reappears on cabana curtains, drawn back to reveal an inviting seating nook.
A final unexpected pop of red, the Julienne Piping in Goji frames a coffee colored pillow, drawing out the softer rouge from the rug below.
