Kips Bay New York 2025

This year’s Kips Bay Show House in New York brought together an extraordinary roster of designers whose visions were as layered and thoughtful as the trimmings that adorned every floor. Read on to discover applications that are as trend-setting as they are timeless, a testament to the endless possibilities of trimmings.

Along the ascent of the “Painted Passage” by James Thomas Interiors, a radiant vignette unfolds in clever chair tie applications, bountiful fringe, and climbing borders. The Annecy Cord and Chair Tassel in Red and Gold turn a mounted photograph into an elegant illusion, appearing to suspend the framed artwork with unexpected whimsy.

The Cambridge Strie Braid in Cranberry frames the upholstery of a tiger-striped chair, accompanied by a delicate coordinating Cord, which traces its plush seat. The braid appears again on the window's sculptural cornice in shade Blue Wonder. Tracing the patterned drapery below, the Sloane Velvet Border in Merlot builds on the scheme's rich reds with an elegant leading edge.

The same velvet border circles a zig zag table skirt, layered on either side with the Sophie Border and Bullion Fringe in Dijon. A foot stool is encircled by the Cambridge Cord and Strata Marabout in Navy, adding a tailored edge and soft dimension. A striped drape defines the vignette from the adjacent room, gathered to the side by a Sophie Cable Holdback in Dijon.

Tucked below the captivating rear stair hall, James Thomas Interiors wrapped a jewel box powder room in patterned wallpaper outlined with Le Jardin Silk Gimp in Ocean, building on the ornate sink’s porcelain blues.

Illuminating this decadent nook, domed sconces are defined by the Cambridge Strie Braid in Cranberry, echoed just outside in the hall, where bespoke ceiling lights mirror their form.

The Rouen Tassel Fringe in Magnolia greets guests at the entrance of Alexa Hampton's “Oscar’s Orchid Reverie” bedroom with a statement-making flourish. The throw pillow above is framed by a coordinating Cord.

Crowing the layered bed, the Cambridge Cord in Chartreuse lines either side of the headboard's ruched edge.

In “Paradíso Encontrado,” Tamara Feldman enclosed a verdant clawfoot tub with theatrical drapery. The Sophie Tassel Fringe in Viridian Green and Dorian Velvet Border in Evergreen are layered on the leading edge, pulled back by a coordinating Sophie Tassel Tieback. Crowning this eccentric ensemble, a valence is framed with the same velvet border.

In Jim Dove Design's “Home Office” delicate details define the design. The Oberon Teardrop Fringe in White Gold adorns a Roman shade with soft radiance, while the Délicat Silk Gimp in Blush circles a patterned lampshade below, two trimmings that temper this room's moody palette with captivating luster.

The Aria Silk Brush Fringe in Walnut comes to life in the "Zoom Room" by Pavarini Design. Framing each chair’s leopard throw pillow, this umber accent adds fur-like dimension, a clever nod to the print itself.

A wink of pink. The Brielle Embroidered Border in Peony climbs the sheer Roman shades in Andrea Schumacher’s “Pink Rhino Club,” a soft petal finish within this whimsical speakeasy.

Jamie Drake’s serene terrace, “Patch of Peace,” is awash with Performance details. Aptly chosen, the Terrace Collection makes its debut on a drape layered with Ikat Border in Camellia and Chainette Fringe in Oyster. Terrace Cord in Oyster, Aspen PipingSaisons Brush Fringe, and Saisons Cord in Canvas adorn additional pillows, accented by the occasional contrast of Saisons Cord in Jet.
