Despite a postponement due to the pandemic, participants and organizers of the Lake Forest Showhouse held steadfast to their plans and their dedication to supporting a worthy cause. Since 1985 designers, both interior and landscape, have pooled their time and talents in support of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago.

Their efforts and creative endeavors have come to fruition, making this visit to the Showhouse as much a triumph as it is a tour. We're going inside—and up close—for a look at the details that make each space inside this year's Lake Forest Showhouse, one-of-a-kind. Behind the doors of this historic estate, statement fringes can be seen at every turn, trimming upholstered ottomans, sofas, table skirts and seat cushions. Watch for embroidered borders, velvet tapes and the sweet scallop of fan-edge braids.

The Lake Forest Showhouse remains open through August 9.
