Can't repeat the past? Why, of course you can — Francis Toumbakaris, owner and principal of Francis Interiors, achieves this beautifully within a reimagined 1860s West Village townhouse in New York City. The second floor comes alive with a 1920s speakeasy-inspired lounge full of mood and mischief, finished with the finesse of three chic fringes that flawlessly balance classic charm and old-world swagger.
A custom-fitted banquette is skirted with the Carolina Ombré Tassel Fringe in Storm, elegantly layered over the metallic sheen of the Oberon Bullion Fringe in Bronze. The pairing plays on the dappled grays of the magnificent velvet jacquard fabric upholstery with a rich grey palette and timeless dimension.
Two-toned barstools are encircled by the Margaux Tassel Fringe in Aubergine, harmoniously bridging between each seat’s contrasting fabrics with clusters of color-blocked tassels.
In true speakeasy fashion, these three fringes prove that when history is revisited with intention, the result feels not merely nostalgic, but irresistibly alive in the present.
